An anthropological inquiry into spiritual values and practices in selected societies, this course examines the ways in which worldviews influence social behavior and are themselves influenced by historical circumstances. Topics include the analysis of moral and ethical beliefs expressed in symbolic forms such as art, architecture, and ritual, as well as relations of power expressed in witchcra? and sorcery beliefs, and in sacred narratives and pilgrimages.
