Prerequisite: BIO 112 This class will review complex health issues, such as improving access to health care, controlling infectious disease, and reducing environmental hazards, violence, substance abuse, and injury as they relate to public health. The class will examine government programs that monitor disease, assist people in need, and respond to large scale emergencies. The role of private insurance, HMOs, PPOs, and the government's Medicaid and Medicare will be explored.
