(Prerequisite: MSHS 600) This course will examine the relationship between neuromuscular structure and function with an emphasis on understanding the acute responses and chronic adaptations of skeletal muscle to exercise and training. Topics discussed include the biochemical and morphological characteristics of skeletal muscle fibers, neural regulation, and bioenergetics of muscular contraction and fatigue, and muscle plasticity as related to development, growth, and adaptation.
