VITA, an acronym for Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, is a nationwide program sponsored by the Internal Revenue Service. VITA volunteers prepare federal and state income tax returns, at no charge, for primarily low-income individuals. Designed to give students an experiential learning opportunity.
