Through the use of primary texts, poetry, music, web sources and film, this course will introduce students to the religion and culture of Islam with a view toward understanding its role in the world today.Topics to be covered will include: the life and teachings of the prophet Muhammad, the content of the Qur'an, Islamic history, law, literature and philosophy and Islamic contributions to culture and civilization. 3 hours a week, 1 semester, 3 credits.
