This course combines the basic principles of chemistry with an exam- ination of the role of chemistry in contemporary life. The nonscience major will understand applications of the theories of chemistry to mod- ern world conditions such as water and air pollution, use of drugs, food preservation, and agriculture technology. 2 hours lecture, 2 hours laboratory a week, 1 semester, 3 credits.
