An introduction to the study of children with learning disabilities. Topics include theoretical perspectives, formal and informal assess- ment, teaching methodologies and materials, diversified learning styles, the use of technology in teaching and learning, and current research trends in the field. The effect of factors in the home, school, and com- munity are considered, as well as the impact of students' culture, her- itage, and history on their development and needs. The importance of home-school relationships in the support of student learning is empha- sized.
