Prerequisite: 1003 or junior standing. Explores various historical, social, economic and personal aspects of motherhood. Examines how definitions of motherhood and family, as well as mothers' relationship to work outside the home, have changed over time in the American context. Family relationships, work-family balance, childcare, and gendered expectations of women's and men's roles in the family and workplace will be considered.
