Prerequisite: Graduate standing and permission of instructor. This course offers a survey of the core concepts and texts of feminist theory. It is intended to expose students to the major works in feminist theory as well as critiques and scholarly analysis of them. The course includes discussion of the roots of feminist thought, analysis of alternatives to liberal feminist thought, and an examination of the impact of postmodernism on feminist thought and the rise of global feminism. Graduate students will have additional reading and writing requirements. No student may earn credit for both 4123 and 5123. (Irreg.)
