Prerequisite: six hours of philosophy or junior standing. Examine major philosophical works from the early twentieth century, drawing from both the logical positivist and pragmatic traditions. The course will trace the development and influence of these theories through the latter part of the century, with an eye toward a better understanding of both the original theories themselves and the subsequent work they inspired and influenced.
