1 to 4 hours. Prerequisite: nine hours of linguistics. May be repeated with change of content; maximum credit nine hours. Topic areas will vary across theoretical and applied areas of linguistics. Some topics that are appropriate include socio-linguistics, psycho-linguistics, language acquisition, advanced syntax, advanced phonology, field phonetics, pragmatics, and comparative readings of twentieth-century theorists. No student may earn credit for both 4330 and 5330 on the same topic. (Irreg.)
