1 This course is designed to instruct students in the principles and techniques used in Molecular Diagnostics in the clinical laboratory setting. Students will be given both lecture and laboratory instruction in basic molecular testing methodologies. At the completion of this course, the student will have a basic understanding of molecular diagnostic principles and will be proficient in molecular diagnostic laboratory techniques including DNA extraction, PCR using SINEs and STRs, restriction enzyme digestion, ELISA, bacterial transformation, DNA sequencing and microarrays.
