2 Nursing as a health profession is introduced in this foundation course. The concepts of health promotion, communication, critical thinking, culture, nursing theory and research, and therapeutic nursing interventions are presented. Within the context of the American Nurses' Association Standards of Clinical Nursing Practice, standards of professional performance are introduced and standards of care are emphasized.
