3 This course provides a basic knowledge of the structure and function of the human body. An overview of the general organization of the body introduces the course. Following a discussion of basic human chemistry, the anatomy and physiology of cells, tissues, organs, and organ systems are studied with special emphasis placed on homeostasis and interaction among the various systems. The topics treated are body plan, chemistry, cytology, histology, the integumentary system, the skeletal system, the muscular system, and the nervous system. Clinical applications will be presented.
