This course provides an overview of how art and creativity influence young children and how early childhood educators, parents, and adults who work with children can assist in this process. Students will consider the important role art plays with children who may be handicapped or from a diverse background. This comprehensive introductory course includes an exploration of a variety of materials, activities, and projects that will stimulate creativity in children. Students will study artists and current children's illustrators and review children's books. Prerequisite: PSY100 or permission of instructor. CR. 3
