This course presents an introductory view of the geologic history of Maine and the surrounding region from its origin over one billion years ago to the end of the last glacial period 15 thousand years ago. The bedrock, surficial, and coastal geology of Maine will be described, as well as the evolution of the ice age and its impact on the state. Laboratory and field exercises are included. Prerequisite: previous college course in geology, chemistry, or physics, or permission of instructor. CR. 4
