This class will examine literature of the Holocaust from various perspectives: poets who perished in the Holocaust; survivors; and poets who speak to the event without direct experience. We will explore memoirs of some Auschwitz poets as well as their poems, consider issues of historical and cultural representation, and discuss challenges of translation. Prerequisite: ENG201. CR. 3
