This course will examine the western film and the changing ideological and cultural perspectives that the genre expresses and encourages. Students will explore classic and revisionist westerns in their cultural and esthetic contexts with an eye towards what they say to us about gender, race, the frontier, and the nature of the American ideal. Prerequisite: DRA265 or 280, or permission of instructor. CR. 3
