This course will study Western medieval art from the Carolingian to the Gothic periods (800-1400) as well as the rich Islamic culture that was flowering in Europe and the Middle East at the same time. Some background on each religion and its different traditions of sacred art will be explored. Prerequisite: ARH105 or permission of instructor. CR. 3
