Prerequisite for Theory I and Ear Training I for music majors without a strong music background. Recommended as an elective for non-majors who are interested in learning about the rudiments of music. Music fundamentals including notation, keys, scales, intervals, meter, rhythm, melody, and harmony in preparation for MUS 1230 (Harmony I). Methods of instruction are lecture and working theoretical exercises using the computer. Minimal computer skills will be helpful. Credit earned in this course is in addition to that earned in required theory courses. Fall, spring, summer.
