American Music is a survey course of music in the United States rooted in folk and popular styles. It is designed for both music majors and non-majors. The purposes of the course are to develop musical perception and to provide a better understanding of the role of music in American culture. It is particularly suitable for non-majors seeking upper division credit and also serves as an upper division elective for the BA in music or the BM in performance. Prerequisite: None. Spring.
