Topics include cosets, normal subgroups, group actions, structure theorems for groups, p-groups, the Sylow theorems, rings, polynomials, roots of polynomials, Kronecker's method of factoring, fields and field extensions, and the automorphism group of a field extension. Lecture format. Prerequisite: MATH 3360. Spring.
