A prerequisite course required of all students considering athletic training as a major and career. This course introduces athletic training as a profession, outlines its history and the role of the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), and exposes students to the professional preparation of athletic trainers and their role as health care professionals. In weekly laboratories and athletic training room observation, students will learn the basis of organization, prevention, recognition, care and rehabilitation of athletic injuries and illnesses. Lecture, discussion, laboratory, and required athletic training room observations. Prerequisite: BIOL 1400 or 1440 with a C or better.
