Focuses on development of basic vocabulary through study of words in various categories: everyday language, people, housing, food, clothing, health, community, transportation, areas of study, plants and animals, work, and recreation. Develops students' vocabulary through the study of root words and affixes. Introduces common idioms and expressions. Prerequisite: Placement in Level 1 or 2. Fall, spring.
