This course is an elective within the economics major. The method of instruction is class lecture and discussion as well as student research, writing, and presentation, using both library and Internet sources. Students learn to apply the tools of economic and financial analysis to numerous current issues in the United States health care system, including market and institutional characteristics of health care delivery, consumer choice and principal-agent relationships in health care, and government programs and policies. Survey of major delivery and financing reform proposals. Prerequisite: ECON 2321. On demand.
