For English majors and minors to satisfy either period or upper-division elective requirements. The course covers American literature from the end of World War II until the present to include writers as diverse as DeLillo, Morrison, Erdrich, Roth, Merrill, Ashbery, O'Hara, Pynchon, and Reed, and an analysis of the conception of postmodernism in these writers.
