A required cognate course for the BS in Family and Consumer Sciences-dietetics specialization, this course builds on the biochemical foundation developed in CHEM 2450 Physiological Chemistry II and focuses primarily on topics related to nutrition and metabolism. CHEM 3350 covers metabolic processes relevant to digestion/absorption, bioenergetics, and ATP production. Clinical aspects (e.g., case studies, diseases, medical tests) of metabolic processes will also be emphasized throughout the course. Prequisites: CHEM 2450 with a C grade or better. Fall, spring.
