Credits: 3 Explores awareness about human rights issues around the world. Students will become familiar with current debates about human rights, especially whether rights should be culturally determined. The role of the United Nations, governmental and nongovernmental organizations, including social service organizations will be presented. Emerging issues including the rights of children; the rights to food, shelter, and health care; and racial and economic equality will be emphasized.
