Maritime shipping is an ancient enterprise that has dominated transportation since long before industrialization led to the development of steam propulsion, railroads, motor trucks, and airplanes. Topics include globalization, e-commerce, just-in-time manufacturing, quick response capabilities, integrated logistic systems, and relevance of maritime transportation in light of emerging technological advances.
