Credits: 3 Examines hierarchies in national security from the president to military establishment, including National Security Council, secretary of defense, joint chiefs of staff, commanders-in-chief of unified and specified commands, and intelligence agencies. Covers policies involving national defense, peace-keeping operations, embargoes and other sanctions, defense conversion, and military acquisition policy. Also covers significant legislation affecting national security, such as National Security Act of 1947 and Goldwater-Nichols Act of 1986.
