Credits: 2 A practical course designed for students with little or no knowledge or skills in moving water and white-water canoeing. Involve activities to teach basic terms, rules, techniques for river safety, paddle strokes, boat control and maneuvering, reading river currents and conditions, self rescue techniques, ethics and river etiquette, and running rivers up to Class II+ in difficulty. There will be one classroom and four all-day paddling sessions on regional rivers. Prerequisites Ability to swim fully clothed for five minutes and put on a PFD in water Hours of Lecture or Seminar per week 2 Hours of Lab or Studio per week 0
