Credits: 3 Analysis and design of public water supplies. Topics include supply evaluation; water quality and quantity requirements; treatment requirements and methods; hydraulic analysis of water distribution systems including line sizing, fire protection, pumps, valves, and storage; sustainability; security; concepts in management, business, and public policy of public water systems; and federal, state, and local government laws and regulations related to public water systems. Requires laboratory, field work on selected topics. Prerequisites A course in hydraulics or fluid mechanics. Notes Credit is not given for both CEIE 440 and 540.
