(3 Units) Examination of counseling theories such as behavior modification, contingency contracting, transactual analysis, psychoanalysis, labeling theory, and humanistic psychology as they apply to community-based and institutional programs. Also reviews the content and structure of specific techniques which have been successful in reducing crime such as family intervention; drug, nutrition, and alcohol counseling; and job skill programs. Prerequisites: SOCL 1010 or consent of instructor. (Spring)
