(3 Units) Designed to analyze the social construction of gender. We will explore the various social institutions and practices that encourage the existing conceptions of masculinity and femininity. Early childhood socialization, practices of parenting, the educational institution, family structures, economic and work structures, the legal institution, violence against women, and intimate relationship practices will be analyzed in terms of their contribution to the social construction of gender.
