(3 Units) Covers primary communication theories, both verbal and nonverbal. Particular attention is given to macro theories, derivative theoretical extensions, and new paradigms. Communication contexts encompass interpersonal to mass media and cultural communication theories. Considers the purpose, goals, and criteria used in the evaluation of a communication theory. (Formerly COMM 4000) Satisfies upper-division writing proficiency requirement. Prerequisites: Completion of the Writing Proficiency Screening Test with a passing score. Junior standing.
