Effective Aug 1, 2010 View History Description: Develops media literacy and related knowledge, skills, and abilities. Explores implications of globalization on media production, distribution, and access, as well as on the content, context, consumption, and effects of media messages. Topics include media's role in democracy, what citizens have a right to expect from media and how media reflect and reinforce their social context. Offers built-in assessment in HCOM MLO 2 or the concentrations in Journalism and Media Studies, or Practical and Professional Ethics. (Offered every year.)
