Effective Jan 1, 2009 View History Description: (Formerly titled Phonics and Beyond) Severe Reading & Writing Disabilities: This course for the Reading Certificate is designed for candidates to learn how to teach reading effectively to students who struggle to read or have severe reading and writing disabilities. Participates will become familiar with research literature on reading difficulties and disabilities. Emphasis is placed on studying language arts curriculum strategies, materials, and programs appropriate for the struggling reader and students with reading disabilities, stressing reading, written and verbal communication, and cognitive skills.(Offered as interest warrants.)
