This course reviews and analyzes historic, classic, and contemporary studies about community at the advanced level. Concepts of comparative community will concentrate on transformations, structures, theories, and problems. Examination of community as a system of social relationships from small towns to the global community. The course will include a significant amount of reading as well as the application of social science research. Prerquisite: SOSC111 or permission of the instructor.
