The focus of this course is on the dynamic nature of culture and how culturally relative strategies of communication affect the formulation and comprehension of messages between different individuals and groups. It is designed to cultivate student awareness of how diverse cultures construct views of the role and nature of language, of the social world, and of "reality" itself, and how these difference influence human interaction in an increaingsly global environment. Prerequisite: ENGL101 or permission of instructor.
