This course is designed to give students the basic foundation of genetics from a molecular/genomics perspective. Emphasis is placed in DNA/genome structure and function as well as regulation of gene expression. Additional advanced topics include molecular methods in the laboratory, bioinformatics, and analysis of gene expression. Prerequisite: BIOL111/112 or equivalent and CHEM111/112 or equivalent or permission of the instructor. Microbiology or Cell Biology is recommended.
