Emphasis on the spheres of social life in which new media technologies play a role: politics, community, economics, culture, personal and global contexts. Focus on a wide range of perspectives and on both theoretical and empirical research to examine new media's role in social capital and community. Prerequisites: SMAD 202 and junior standing, or permission of the instructor.
