Indigenous accounts and the chronicles of conquistadors such as Columbus and Cortés will be studied. Theoretical interpretive texts by Tzetvan Todorov and Beatriz Pastor Bodmer will also be studied. Prerequisite: SPAN 200 or consent of instructor.
