This course is designed to introduce and examine domestic as well as international terrorism form a sociological perspective. The course will review major theories of terrorism; present the historical, religious, political, and ideological motives for terrorism; and discuss the threat that terrorism poses. Additional topics may include a sociological analysisof the contemporary terrorism issues of symbolic hate groups, esotericism, religious extremist organizations, and narco-terrorist drug cartels. Pre: WRI 1200; and SOC 2000, SOC 2100, or SOC 3100.
