Biochemistry delves in the chemical aspects of living organisms. This course is the first half of a two semester survey of this vast and growing field. The structure and function of biological macromolecules, with an emphasis on enzyme function and metabolism, will be examined. Topics to be covered include: nucleic acids, amino acids, proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, enzymes, metabolism and catabolism. Pre: CHEM 3032.
