Prerequisite: 293, 295; individual performance level should correspond to the music major's junior year. This course is a combination lecture/discussion, observation, hands-on, and practicum situation. Students apply learned concepts individually, paired with class members and collectively as a class, and in a practicum-like situation with the University Jazz Band and/or Sound Alliance. Observation of public schools will be made during the BYU-Idaho Jazz Festival or other festivals. Jazz Methods is designed for students to learn basic concepts and teaching of jazz.
