4849. Professional and Technical Editing. Study of the skills needed to make appropriate decisions about the content, grammar, mechanics, style, organization, and format of scholarly, trade, journalistic, and other professional publications, including newsletters and electronic publications. Topics include stages in the publishing process, proofreading, hard-copy versus online editing, mechanical and substantive editing, and the use of house and press styles. Prereq.: Completion of ENGL 3742 or ENGL 3743 with grade "C" or better. 3 s.h.
