Prerequisite: Admission into the Firefighting Program One in a series of courses in basic preparation for a new firefighter. Should be taken in conjunction with Firefighter Certification I, II, IV, V, VI, and VII to satisfy the Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) curriculum for Basic Structural Fire Suppression, Course #100. General principles of fire apparatus, pump operations, fire streams, and public operations as they relate to fundamental development of basic firefighter skills. The student will identify the types of fire apparatus; describe the operation of fire pumps; demonstrate fire stream operations and fire pump operations; and explain the importance of public relations as a member of fire service.
