(0-6), (1-3) Prerequisite: One semester of General Biology (BIOL 1408, 1409, 1406 or BIOL 2389 (1-6)# 1407) and approval of instructor. An instructional program designed to integrate didactic study with practical hands-on work experience in the biological sciences. Specifically, the student will participate in an intensive field program in which students have the opportunity to learn specific techniques and issues involved in biological surveys of a wildlife management area. The didactic portion of the course will include general principles of biological surveys as well as sampling techniques specific to the area in question, collection and identification of the organisms of interest, and discussion of the habitats and ecology of the study area. An extensive field trip is central to this course - students must contact instructor for details prior to enrolling.
