This course examines the executive function of the American national government. The structure and function of the Executive branch will be examined, as well as various theories on how policy is made within this branch. Also considered in this course will be the President's responsibility for foreign policy and the associated bureaucratic agencies charged with implementing the President's decisions related to this area of policy making. The relationship of the executive branch to other branches of government will also be considered.
