Critical approaches to analyzing and writing about literary and nonliterary texts and non-print media in their historical/cultural contexts. Students will learn the major concepts and terms of literary criticism and theory and learn to analyze a wide variety of texts, including literary works (poetry, drama, novel), nonliterary texts, film, advertisement, and prints.
